Happy mid-February, folks! We recently checked in with Ace’s produce pros, Paul Guarino and Rod Moyer, to see what’s been going on in the big wide world of fruit and veggies. The two of them have been spearheading some big changes in the produce department and we’re excited to bring you an overview. Read on…
As you probably know, Ace moved to Mt. Vernon back in October.
Our new spot has improved the quality of our cold chain maintenance by adding 4 proper loading/receiving docks, a temperature-controlled warehouse, and 4 spacious produce storage zones with individual temperature, humidity, and ethylene control. That means improved quality and better selection of our 100% organic produce…for you!
We continue to provide 100% USDA-certified organic produce—and strive to support all other sustainable practices in agriculture and food production.
In order to reduce our carbon footprint, we try to source from local and regional farms, especially during the spring, summer, and fall when produce is abundant in the northeast. When necessary, we look past New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania to other farms on the east coast, anywhere from Florida to Nova Scotia. In order to offer a complete array of products—think bananas, avocados, and ginger—we also support organic farms on the west coast and around the world.
We love partnering with family farms who work the soil by hand and take pride in their personnel, as well as their product.
We’re especially excited to work with farmers who engage in fair trade practices and are devoted to organic, sustainable, progressive farming. This includes our amazing farmer friends: Gail Hepworth, Amy Hepworth, and Gerry Greco of Hepworth Farms (pictured above), Andrew Rose of New Sprout Farms, and Rich Marolda of Marolda Farms (as well as many more).
We focus on stocking only the freshest products and simultaneously reducing food waste.
This means we contact processors, offer discounts on processing grade, supply our employee kitchen, and donate to the Feeding Westchester food pantry.
Ace Natural’s produce department is all about pleasing our customers!
Our produce department isn’t meant to be a major profit center of the company, but rather to add value to Ace as a whole. We seek to be mission-driven leaders in organic food distribution.
We provide the convenience of one-stop shopping, low minimums, high-quality standards, and stable and competitive pricing…along with volume discounts. Our broad range of customers—from tiny juice bars to commercial production kitchens—allows us to see food sourcing challenges from many different angles.
We take great pride in developing personal relationships with our customers and stocking exactly what they want.
We provide approximately 175 active skus of produce daily, in the quantities our customers request, and specifically for the purposes they need it.
We receive daily deliveries of organics from all over the New York market and beyond. This allows us to forage the entire market and aggregate high-volume orders with precision for manufacturers, juicers/bottlers, meal prep, and other food production facilities.
As you can probably tell, we are super passionate about our produce—and food in general—here at Ace. We welcome any and all dialogue, so please feel free to get in touch!
